User-Privacy Protection:

This website recognizes the need for transparency in user/client-server/host privacy and security matters over the Internet, especially in cases that involve the transfer of personal or sensitive data. For this reason, NetShop has a QuickSSL™ (SSL=Secure Sockets Layer) certificate installed on its server  to enable server security. SSL is a protocol developed for transmitting private or secret documents or data via the Internet. SSL uses a cryptographic system that uses two keys to encrypt data−a public key known to everyone and a private or secret key known only to the recipient of the message. Almost all serious commercial websites use this protocol to obtain confidential user information, such as credit card numbers etc. By convention, URLs that require an SSL connection start with https: instead of http:, and such is the case with our Secure Sockets Layer connection at NetShop (https://netshop-zambia.com). This server has been configured to automatically switch to the (secure) HTTPS mode when required to, so that private data is sent in encrypted form when transferred across the Internet as the user communicates with our server, e.g. when a user/customer logs in to their account, or logs out of their account, or edits or updates any personal registration information, or 'checks out' their shopping cart contents etc. Your connection and personal / private information with us at NetShop are of paramount importance and we hereby assure you that they will be safe. Your name is used only in cases where we must communicate with you, or an item you bought online has to be delivered to no other person but you, of course possible only through your real identity, or your real-life name, you provide to us! Your e-mail address is used only for confirming your registration details and password (and for sending a new password, should you forget your current one), and also so that NetShop may be able to communicate directly with you. All such information is stored in an encrypted form in our database, and not even we, the administrators of NetShop, have any direct access to it. [See also our Terms of Trade & Use]

Cookies:

As communication between the client/USER (browser) and NETSHOP/server is made in a stateless mode, it is not possible to know who the client is and where they currently are on the website. The cookie protocol is an implementation used on websites to allow “client-tracking” to occur. This allows for greater interactivity between client and server as the server is able to tell who the client is and where they currently are on the website. Without this form of implementation, shopping online or banking online would not be possible. The cookie protocol works by allowing the website to store a file on the client's computer, sent by the client on every subsequent request made to the website/server. The website can store any text information required in the cookie file but must remain within a 4 kilobyte size limit. For privacy reasons, the cookie file stored by the website on the client's computer can only be read by the website that stored it. This is controlled by the URL domain of the website. For the website to be able to track the client, a session ID is uniquely created and stored as a cookie on the client's computer. This allows the website to track the client via the uniquely created session ID and to know if the client is in an authenticated (or “logged-in”) state with the web application or not.

For the above reasons, NetShop’s system uses cookies to store information on your local computer whenever you visit NetShop. These cookies do not contain any personal information you use to register as a member of this website, nor any other such personal information; they only serve to enhance quality in your online interactivity with NetShop Online Shop and to improve your surfing pleasure.

For log-in purposes, and to enable other interactive functions with NetShop to run smoothly on each visitor's computer, visiting USERS are advised to enable cookies from BOTH http://www.netshop-zambia.com and https://netshop-zambia.com (for both our standard HTTP and secure HTTPS servers) in their browser settings. In addition, it is strongly advisable, for those who may want to do online business with us, to please be sure to allow all emails from admin@netshop-zambia.com and info@netshop-zambia.com to pass through their spam filter, if any at hand,  or not to be blocked by any  firewall installed on their system, as the case may be.

Please note that this Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will not reduce your rights under our current Policy without your explicit consent, and we would expect most such changes to be minor both in nature and effect. Regardless of the aforesaid, we will post any Policy changes on this page and, if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice (including, for certain services, e-mail notification about Policy changes). Each version of this Policy will be identified at the top of this page by its date of effect / enforcement.
